Zeger van Hese won the Best Paper Award at EuroSTAR 2009 for his paper 'A Lucky Shot at Agile?'. We are delighted to present the paper as EuroSTAR's first ever eBook.

In this eBook, Zeger describes life as a tester in his team of agile rookies; the context - a major healthcare IT company - and what agile did and didn't do for them. He will highlight the practices adopted successfully, but also highlight mistakes and missed opportunities and ultimately ask, was our shot at agile just a lucky shot?

"Once upon a time there was a project that had just experienced a painfully slow release process and a disappointing product quality to go with that. Things needed to change for the next major release, so the project team decided to give agile development a go - with Scrum as methodology of choice. Although becoming agile is often perceived as an abrupt paradigm shift, the team's resistance against such a drastic change was miraculously low. And so it happened that - armed with nothing more than the best intentions and a good deal of enthusiasm - the team braced itself for a wild set of sprints."
